MaintenanceThe combination of all technical and correspondingadministrative actions intended to retain an item in, orrestore it to, a state in which it can perform its requiredfunction (stated condition).

Make-To-Order (Manufacture-to-Order)A manufacturing process strategy where the trigger to begin manufacture of a product is an actual customer order or release, rather than a market forecast. Other manufacturing process strategies are Configure/Package-to-Order, Engineer-to-Order, and Make-to-Stock.

Make-To-Stock (Manufacture-To-Stock)A manufacturing process strategy where finished product is continually held in warehouse inventory to fulfil expected incoming orders or releases based on a forecast.

Muda, Mura, MuriThree Japanese terms often used together in the Toyota Production System (and called the Three Ms) that collectively describe wasteful practices to be eliminated. Muda: Any activity that consumes resources without creating value for the customer.
Mura: Unevenness in an operation; for example, an uneven work pace in an operation causing operators to hurry and then wait.
Muri: Overburdening equipment or operators.

MRP-II - Manufacturing Resource PlanningDirect outgrowth and extension of closed-loop MRP. Was developed as a method to calculate the utilization of resources (machines, material, people) in a manufacturing company. The concept covers the step-by-step planning starting at the highest level in the planning hierarchy. Most ERP Systems based on the principle.
