Dangerous goodsGoods are to be considered dangerous if the transportof such goods might cause harm, risk, peril, or otherevil to people, environment, equipment or any property
whatsoever.

Deadweight (DWT)The total weight of cargo, cargo equipment, bunkers, provisions, water, stores and spare parts which a vessel can lift when loaded to her maximum draught as applicable under the circumstances. The deadweight is expressed in tons.

Delivery lead Time/Delivery cycleThe time between the receipt of the customer order andthe delivery of the product to the customer. |

Demand
The requirement for a particular product or componentarising from a number of sources, internal or external. |

Demand Chain Leadership (DCL)Increased revenues and unique competitiveness through more efficient flow of goods, services and information.

Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)A product design methodology that provides a quantitative evaluation of product designs.

Detail planningThe planning (at the lower planning levels) by which itis decided in detail where and when each activity can and/or must be carried out.

Direct costsThe costs which are directly allocated to a particular product. The classification direct and/or indirect costs and variable and/or fixed costs are not connected with each other. Direct costs can be both variable and fixed in nature: the same applies to the indirect costs. |

Direct deliveryThe conveyance of goods directly from the vendor to the buyer.

Disposable pallet/One-way pallet/Expendable palletPallet intended to be discarded after a single cycle of use.
